Presented by the Centre for Civic Curiosity, this series will examine a variety of ideas in regards to digital technologies and the city.

The first event will be held in September 2019 in partnership with Mississauga’s Central Library.

 SPEAKER 1: Pamela Robinson, Director and Associate Professor, School of Urban and Regional Planning, Ryerson University.

 TOPIC: Pamela will discuss the use of Smart City Data in Public Space, Citizen Engagement, Quality of Life, Digital Equity.

SPEAKER 2: Shawn Slack, CIO & Director IT,  City of Mississauga

TOPIC: Shawn will discuss the City of Mississauga and Data. How is it currently being used and upcoming plans and ideas for data in the city.

ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: The public will be invited to take part in an engagement activity to start to build our ideas for SMRTCTY data principles for the City of Mississauga.

TOPIC: Anthea will discuss Mississauga’s SMRTCTY initiatives and future directions for digital in the city.

TOPIC: Public Engagement and Collaboration, How Can the Public Engage with City Data 

ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: The public will be invited to take part in an engagement activity to start to build our ideas for SMRTCTY data principles for the City of Mississauga.

Co-Create SMRT CTY Principles Workshop

WORKSHOP LEADER: Nasma Ahmed, Executive Director, Digital Justice Lab

TOPIC: During this workshop the public will be invited to help develop SMRTCTY data principles that will be the basis for a new SMRTCTY Policy that will guide the City of Mississauga’s decisions in regards to digital data, systems and processes.

City of Mississauga Staff will be on Hand to Answer Questions About Current Data Processes and Policies
