October 2021 marked the start of the community engagement plan for the new Smart City Policy.

Phase 2 of engagement began with two identical virtual kick-off sessions which included presentations by three industry leaders:

  • Steve Czajka, Manager of the Smart City Program at the City of Mississauga,
  • Dr. Ann Cavoukian, former Information and Privacy Commissioner for the Province of Ontario and the creator of the Privacy by Design framework, and
  • Dr. Brenda McPhail, Director, Privacy, Technology & Surveillance Program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association
The sessions also included an open mic and discussion portion to provide an opportunity for our community to ask questions and tell us how they feel.

The video below is the recorded presentation portion of the sessions where you can hear about the Smart City Policy and relevant discussions at your convenience.
